What tools identify competitor products appearing in social videos?

Competitors’ products show up in your creators’ videos, in comparison videos and in your category’s content. Here is how to find them, and what to do about it.

The short answer.

To identify competitor products in social videos, build a library of their products and brands, then detect them visually, in speech and in on-screen text, across your category’s content and your own creators’ videos. Noodle4 detects products at SKU level against a library, checks for unauthorised brands in content, and classifies comments, so you see both where a rival appears and how people react.

By the numbers

Creator content competes with brand content, and rivals use the same platforms.

81%
of enterprise marketers say creator content outperforms brand-made content (Linqia 2026)
85%
of brands use Instagram for creator marketing; 29% say it gives the best ROI, against 27% for TikTok (CreatorIQ, via IMH)

Figures are as reported by each source. Sample sizes and dates are listed under Sources.

Why it matters

  • Share of voice in video. How often a rival is shown compared with you.
  • Exclusivity. Creators you pay should not feature a competitor.
  • Comparisons. What people say when two products are on screen.
  • Early signals. A rival’s new product appearing before it is announced.

Where competitor products appear

  • Category content. Reviews, routines and hauls in your category.
  • Comparison and “vs” videos. The most direct signal.
  • Your creators’ videos. Sometimes a rival product in the background, or in the next post.
  • Comments. Viewers asking “is this better than…?”.

How to find them

  1. Build a competitor library. Reference pictures and names for each rival product and brand.
  2. Detect in video and images. Visual, spoken and on-screen mentions.
  3. Add the comments. Competitor mentions and reactions.
  4. Classify. Categories such as comparison, mention in passing, endorsement and complaint.
  5. Track over time. Volume, creators and category by competitor.

In your own creator content

For ambassador programmes, an unauthorised brand in a creator’s video can breach an exclusivity clause or confuse the message. Noodle4 checks content for unauthorised brands as part of its review, with timestamps, so a manager can see exactly where it appears and ask for a fix.

What to do

  • Marketing. Learn which formats and creators competitors use.
  • Creator managers. Enforce exclusivity with evidence.
  • Product. Read the comparison comments.
  • Legal. Escalate claims about your product.

What Noodle4 includes

Noodle4 is a full social intelligence platform, not only a video tool. It reviews text as well as video and images, and it includes:

  • Text, video and image review. Reads captions, on-screen text, spoken words, images and comments, so the whole piece of content is understood.
  • Taxonomies. Organise content and comments into your own categories, so results match how your team thinks.
  • Visual-level SKU tracking. Spot products and SKUs as they appear in videos and images, not only when they are named in text.
  • Classifications. Every piece of content and every comment is classified by topic, type and relevance.
  • Anomaly detection. Flags unusual spikes and shifts, so you see what is trending before it spreads.
  • Slack and Slack Connect. Reviews, risks and reports go to your team’s channels, and to shared channels with partners.
  • MCP. Ask about your creators, campaigns and social intelligence from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client.
  • API. Send content in and get structured results back from your own systems.

That covers social listening, brand monitoring, influencer screening and monitoring, content review and reporting in one place. It is priced on usage, not seats, from £99 a month.

How we know this

These notes come from building Noodle4’s review and listening pipelines, not from a published academic sample. Cost curves, intent splits, and ASR collisions are from internal R&D and client-shaped tests. They will not match every category. We include them because the failure mode is structural — not because one campaign is universal.
